Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day both fall on February 14th in 2010 - very special indeed!

Following the Chinese Zodiac calendar, we're ending the Year of the Ox and ushering in the Year of the Tiger on Feb 14th.

Celebrate by folding your own chinese zodiac origami tiger! Other origami chinese zodiac signs include ox(cow), rabbit, dragon, snake.

For Valentine's Day we have plenty of origami hearts and origami flowers for your special someone. So get busy and start folding!

 

 

 

Origami Hat

The origami hat is a classic.  It is easy to make, and if made large enough, can be worn as a costume hat.

Origami hats made from newspaper are used all over the world as temporary hats when there's a sudden rain.

Let's see how it's done.

You'll need a rectangular piece of paper. 

If you have a square piece, we'll make a rectangle as shown in the first four photos below.

Now fold your rectangle in half, below left.  The fold the top corners towards the middle as shown.

Crease the folds so that the piece lays almost flat.  The take the bottom edge of the paper and fold it upwards.

Flip the piece over and fold the other edge upwards.  Then open up your origami hat!
