Origami Boaz Butterfly

We love this origami butterfly for its simplicity. You only need to make 5 folds/creases and you've got yourself a very pretty butterfly. This is a brilliant design by Boaz Shuval.

Origami Boaz Butterfly Step 1: Start with a 6 inch x 6 inch (15cm x 15cm) square origami paper, color side up.

Divide paper into thirds and make 2 mountain folds. Crease well and unfold.

Origami Boaz Butterfly Step 2: Now make 3 diagonal valley folds. Crease well and unfold.

Origami Boaz Butterfly Step 3: Once you've made those 5 folds, the paper will already want to move in a certain direction. You just have to give it a "nudge".

This is a great example of how important valley and mountain folds are. You cannot get the end result if you only folded valley folds or only mountain folds.

Starting from the bottom third, fold paper over on the diagonal crease.

Continue with the 2nd diagonal crease.

Finish folding over the 3rd diagonal crease. And your origami boaz butterfly is complete! Simple, pretty, awesome!
