Origami Rose Bowl

When this origami rose bowl is viewed from the top, it really looks like a rose. While it's probably not a beginner's origami, it is not that difficult either. You just have to be patient and make many creases first prior to actually forming the rose.

As mentioned earlier, there're lots of creases to be made for this origami. Be patient and follow the instructions and you'll be rewarded with a lovely rose at the end! This is a model by Maria Sinayskaya.

Origami Rose Bowl Step 1: Start with a 6 inch x 6 inch (15 cm x 15 cm) square origami paper, color side down.

Fold paper in half on the vertical axis but crease only the edge to mark the paper and unfold.

First, fold point A to meet point D.
Crease only 3/4 of the way
as shown in the photo below and unfold.

Origami Rose Bowl Step 17: Flip paper over. Recrease the paper with valley and mountain folds as shown below. This will help us shape the rose bowl so crease well and unfold.

This step is optional if you already know how to form the rose. Otherwise, this extra step will make the next step easier.

Origami Rose Bowl Step 19: We're finally going to shape our rose bowl! Look at the photos below, and also consult this video, since it can be a bit tricky:

We need to bring the outer tips towards the center.

Start with the top tip then work counter-clockwise to the left tip.

Origami Rose Bowl Step 20: After the top and left tips, we continue counter-clockwise and fold the bottom tip towards the center. This is finally followed by the right tip. Pinch the 4 bottom corners of the bowl if you have to in order for the bowl to hold together.

You can see the rose forming....

Origami Rose Bowl Step 21: Finally curl the tips to make your rose look even more realistic and beautiful. The curling of the paper also helps to hold your bowl together better.
