Origami Octagonal Container

Origami octagonal container is a really nice 8-sided or 8-pointed container. This is probably more of an intermediate origami. It uses the origami frog base which has 4 sides so there is a set of steps that must be folded four times.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 1: Start by folding the origami frog base. You should have the following to start with.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 2: Fold down the center tip.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 3: Fold the upper layer from the right to the left.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 8: Make a cut where indicated. Note that you're cutting the top and bottom layers.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 9: Now that you've made a slit in the paper, you can make a diagonal mountain fold on the right side. Crease well and tuck that portion into the pocket.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 11: Repeat Steps 1 to 10 on the other 3 sides. You should have the following when you're done.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 14: Repeat Steps 12 and 13 for the other 3 sides. Your paper should then look like this.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 15: Almost done! Make a horizontal mountain fold as shown below.

Origami Octagonal Container Step 16: We're now ready to transform the paper! Pry open the paper and flatten the bottom to form the base.
