Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Part 1

This is a great origami modular 8-pointed star. You fold the same unit 8 times, then assemble them to form an 8-pointed star without using glue or tape. Part 1 is folding the unit. Part 2 will involve attaching the units. This is a model by Francisco Caboblanco.

Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Step 1: Start with a 6 inch x 6 inch (15cm x 15cm) square origami paper, color side down. Fold along both the diagonal axis, crease well and unfold.

Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Step 2: Now fold the left side to meet the diagonal crease as shown.

Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Step 3: Make a mountain fold along the shown dotted line below.

Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Step 4: Now fold AB (upper layer only!) to meet AC.

Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Step 5: Flip paper over.

Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Step 6: Fold the right side to meet the vertical crease.

Origami Modular 8-Pointed Star Step 7: Now make a diagonal fold and fold the bottom tip upwards.

And that's your modular unit. You need to fold this same unit 8 times to form the modular 8-pointed star.

Continue to Part 2 for instructions on how to attach the units.
